Karl-ini

All film makers have some competition coming up from an unlikely source, one of the world's most famous fashion designers,  Mr. Chanel himself, the one and only  Karl Lagerfeld.  He has proven he may be able to become a successful filmmaker. At 25-minutes long this mostly black & white film titled  "The Tale of a Fairy" is a great beginning from Mr. Lagerfeld for what his film career may bring to the table in the future. The film was screened at Chanel's 2011-12 Cruise show on Monday night before an audience of several hundred fashion insiders,  it is a story set in a French Riviera Pukey mansion and it shows amazing clothes and relates to socialites who can afford nice things.  The stars of the show are mostly Chanel models but they also included actress Blake Lively, Ms. Kristen McMenamy (one of  my favorite models of all time), Chanel adviser Lady Amanda Harlech & Freja Beha Erichsen, Chanel's current it girl  who happens to play the fairy of the title and spends much of the movie topless!  Karl describes the film as a sort of homage to the legions of wealthy women who grab up his designs, without any thought on how much they cost. "In the movie, they wear dresses from the Chanel collection, so it's kind of a narrative around the kind of women who buys these clothes," Lagerfeld said.   The Chanel creative director has become an  accomplished photographer and  has shot most of the campaign ads for years for the label.  Karl has collaborated with Italian shoemaker Hogan, he's done a series of ads for Magnum ice cream bars too.  Looking forward to seeing more from Mr. Lagerfeld.
